The Cisco SPA504G is the go-to office VoIP phone. It has all of the great, cost effective features available through VoIP as well as 4 programmable buttons, PoE, 2 Ethernet ports and a high resolution monochrome, backlit graphical display. This phone is excellent for the office environment and can handle high call volume. A step up from this phone can go one of three ways; you could choose the 5 programmable button, wireless SPA525G2 with the high resolution colour display, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatibility, or upgrading network speed to Gigabit with the SPA514G, or it can move in the direction of its cousins the SPA508G or the SPA509G which have more programmable buttons for the user who wants more options without buying a sidecar. The Cisco SPA504G is a step up from the SPA303G because of the extra programmable button, compatibility with PoE and the SPA500S and SPA500DS, and a backlit display.

The SPA508G is an VoIP phone with a 2 port Ethernet switch, 8 programmable buttons and PoE compatibility. This phone has a monochrome LCD graphical display and twice the number of programmable buttons of the SPA504G. This phone is more appropriate for the user who wants to take more advantage of the flexibility of programmable buttons.

The SPA514G is a 4 programmable button VoIP phone that has all of the convenient, powerful options of the SPA504G including PoE, high resolution monochrome graphical display, and 2 Ethernet ports. What sets this phone apart from the rest of the Cisco 500 series is a network speed of 10/100/1000 (rather than just 10/100 in the other 500 series VoIP phones). With a higher network speed, users can expect a faster network connection which can accommodate transferring large data volumes on the LAN which can improve voice clarity in heavily loaded networks. This phone also supports EHS.
BitBlock recommends the SPA514G to the VoIP user who requires an exceptionally fast network connection such as streaming HD, massive uploads and downloads, or installation in combination with a network printer or server. Keep in mind that Gigabit speeds require a Gigabit switch.
